How to determine the electricity consumption of industrial ceiling fans?

  1. Find the Power Rating: Check the fan's specifications or label to find its power rating, usually measured in watts (W) or kilowatts (kW). This rating indicates the amount of electrical power the fan consumes when operated at its highest speed.

  2. Determine the Operating Hours: Estimate the number of hours per day or per month that the industrial ceiling fan will be in operation. Consider the typical working hours or the specific usage pattern of the fan.

  3. Calculate the Energy Consumption: Multiply the fan's power rating by the number of operating hours. If the power rating is given in kW, multiply it by 1,000 to convert it to watts. This will give you the total energy consumption in watt-hours (Wh) or kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Energy Consumption (Wh) = Power Rating (W) x Operating Hours (h)

    or

Energy Consumption (kWh) = Power Rating (kW) x Operating Hours (h)

  4. Determine the Electricity Cost: Check your electricity bill or contact your utility provider to find the cost of electricity in kilowatt-hours (kWh). The cost may vary depending on your location and tariff structure.

  5. Calculate the Total Energy Cost: Multiply the energy consumption (in kWh) by the electricity cost per kilowatt-hour. This will give you the total energy cost for operating the industrial ceiling fan over the specified period.

Total Energy Cost = Energy Consumption (kWh) x Electricity Cost (cost/kWh)
